    <summary type="html">i think squirrels are cute and fun to watch.  they prefer nuts and if you make a feeder for them, they may leave your garden alone.  &#xD;

you could consider that recreation, watching the squirrels at play.  and if times get hard you will have an extra protein source. . .stewed with herbs.</summary>

    <summary type="html">I second the scarecrow. We used it to keep the dogs out of the flower beds. Worked like a charm. Just make sure you turn it off before walking in front of you. It can really startle you. LOL.</summary>

I have had really good luck deterring pests - neighbor's poopy cats, raccoons, skunks, squirrels - with a motion-detector water sprayer called a Scarecrow. Love it! and it is much friendlier than the BB gun!&#xD;

    <summary type="html">What kind of squirrels are they?  There are ground squirrels (live in holes in the ground), gray tree squirrels (not usually pestilent in gardens) and Non-native red tree squirrels (I hear they can be pestilent in cities).  A good air rifle will kill any of them.  Traps are different for tree v.s. ground squirrels.</summary>

Over here it is ok to trap them, but illegal to set them free again, so you have to kill them! ....better to not encourage them by leaving food around (like rats) They all go where the  bird tables are.......</summary>
