Does anyone have any suggestions on mite prevention/eradication routines that really work to get rid of spider mites?

I am growing some tomatoes indoors for the winter, and the mites keep reappearing despite my best efforts.

I've used neem oil, and pyrethrin spray.

Thanks for your help!

Rose this is a problem I have encountered and have had success in controlling.

I would start with a daily misting and shading to keep the mites population down and make sure that you have good air circulation around your plants

then I would start a two to three applications every two weeks of insecticidal soap or insecticidal soap mixed with a horticuture oil or insecticidal soap mixed with diluted seaweed extract. You can also try many of the natural sprays.

my favorite way of controlling mites and many other insect problems however is Diatomaceous Earth ( I love D. E.) put a light dusting around the base of the plant covering all stems and leaves, make sure you get the undersides of the leaves if it washes away replace it.

Good luck! Completely getting rid of the problem is tough indoors. Outside its much easier to get a handle on it. I was only able to keep them reduced, and didn't completely rid myself of them until I moved.

1% parts garlic ,1%parts chilie(thai dragons dry) ,1%wine(red),1%neem oil ,4% active EM ,92% water(r/o) and brew in glass container for 2 weeks. If you use on a regular base ,its a great preventative measure as the brix level shall increase making for a thicker stem wall protection. As far as in the middle of a harvest, sorry not much can be done for 2 weeks in mite world is 2 years our time.
