This is one of my favorite gardening books "The New Seed Starters Handbook" by Nancy Bubel. www.amazon.com/New-Seed-S.../ref=sr_1_1

I've learned alot on how to grow a variety of seeds and proper seed starting & saving techniques.

What are some of your favorite books that you reference back to?

The Vegetable Gardener's Bible is my #1 go to book. I also like Seed to Seed and The Gardener's A-Z Guide to Growing Organic Food.

One I refer to often is The Complete Book of Herbs by Lesley Bremness. Lots of photos of different varieties of even the same herbs Good for understanding what each herb needs to grow. It also goes into detail about their flavor, culinary & medicinal uses.

Growing Vegetables West of the Cascades, seeing as how I live west of the cascades, it's the perfect how to. I also love this book I picked up about growing and preserving your own food. I've lent it to a friend at the moment and I can't remember the title. It has in depth descriptions of individual vegetables growing requirements, but also all sorts of useful information on how to preserve them. Like how long to leave things in pressure caners, how long each vegetable takes to dry, and how to prepare them for preservation, etc.

Oriental Vegetables by Joy Larkcom - Amazingly good. Really top notch work.
    www.amazon.com/Oriental-V.../ref=sr_1_1

New Organic Grower - eliot coleman -

Four Season Gardener - eliot coleman - this is great for winter gardening techniques. Both coleman books required reading for market gardeners......i see he's got a new one and it looks really good too. I think i would recommend folks start with that as it is likely his current thinking and techniques.

Seed to Seed - susan ashworth - How to save seeds for all vegetables covered in very systematic and scientific way. Excellent resource for this.

I own Carrots love Tomatoes - it's good but not what I thought. It's like Rodale's Organic Gardening book - an encyclopedia. I love reference books, and it has good information, but it takes a bit to figure out how to find what you want as sometimes it's covered under another search word or not at all. It's pretty, though (I'm a visual person) and has great info.

When it comes to gardening books I find Rodale offers ome of the best reference books..
but I like history and Helena Rutherfurd Ely was one of the poineers of modern day gardens in her book "A Woman's Hardy Garden" wrote in 1903. It has been republished several times.

I also like garden design books one of my favorites is The feng Shui Garden by Gill Hale.

I of course have a garden library of about 100 books and enjoying jumping from book to book often. Many design books, text books, reference books and just plain good reading books.
