A little earthworm castings is nice because it introduces life into, what is otherwise often sterile potting medium...I like to use Black Gold Organic potting soil because it is a living potting soil....

Then just love...yes, that's right love...you'll be surprised at how far that will go...

 Happy gardening,

Hi Faith,

I've been gone for a while so I'm just reading this post. I hope you've gotten some good information here. Experiment with a few all purpose potting mixes until you find the one you like (or try to mix your own if you really like to experiment!). After that the real key to growing successful indoor plants is to be observant. Get to know your plants; they'll tell you what they want. I know that may sound a bit 'flaky' to some people, but it's true. Then make sure your plant friends are getting the proper amount of light and water. Everyone's experience is different but mine has been that soil additives are ususally not necessary, and can sometimes do more harm than good.

let me know if you want/need more info.
